The fastest still wins - 30 April 09

Chatting with several Extended Thinking friends, we've realised that speed is currently the name of the game. Whilst customer decision-making is taking longer, when they want to purchase they want things NOW!  Being able to act fast has given some a real competitive edge in today's tough climate.  So respond to enquiries, leads and orders as quickly as you can.  Delay and dithering are likely to dent your business even more.

How to be an expert part 7 - 15 April 09

If you get asked to write an article, comment or give insight on something, try and rehearse or run your words by someone outside of your specialist area.  They'll help you to speak in plain English and explain your expertise in a way that's easily understood. More info

Roll out the red carpet for referrals - 8 April 09

If a contact refers a business lead to you, roll out the red carpet and treat their referral well.  Be prompt in your response and deliver a fantastic service.  Remember if you want more referrals, you need to impress the customer and your contact.

 

Synergise and save money - 25 March 09

Why not look for businesses who complement what you do, or work in a similar market?  Consider pooling marketing resources to promote your two companies?  There may be offers you can create together to attract new customers or clients. Synergise and you could get more for your marketing spend (or even make savings).

Budget time - 16 March 09

With a new financial year looming, marketing budgets across the country are currently being set.  Try and avoid 'historic' budgeting (what you did last year + or – a percentage).  The business landscape has vastly changed and you'll need a different approach.  Consider what you need to do to survive and what is and isn't working at the moment. Your budget needs to be very focused if it is going to generate positive results.
